Aero Garden

I finally broke down and purchased my very own Aero Garden. After seeing it on QVC numerous times, watching those late night infomercials and reading the Aero Garden website hawking their product, I decided I’d give this nifty looking device a whirl.

Spotting it on sale, in my local J.C. Penney, I just couldn’t resist. I lugged the box home and began to unpack it. Failing to read the instructions I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to put together.

It came with the Herb Garden seed kit, but having purchased a few other kits, I settled on trying the Salad Garden. The box and seed pods said I’d have germination in 1 to 3 days. I learned that 1 day germination did not mean I’d see green plants that fast; it actually took 2 days to see leaves, not bad for my need of instant gratification.

I’m actually surprised at how well it’s doing. I started these seeds on 10/6/07 and 10 days later it’s starting to look pretty good. I’m excited to see how big the plants will be in another couple of weeks, by then I should starting to harvest red and green leaf lettuce for a nice long growing season. Fresh salad here I come!!!

For all of you who are rolling your eyes at the fact that I’m growing a garden smack dab in the middle of my kitchen, I’m posting a couple of pictures taken tonight to show off my tiny apartment sized garden.

Aero Garden Red and Green Salad Plants

I’m enjoying it so much that I am contemplating buying another one just for the fresh herbs that I could grow, however I think the kids might get all excited and start eating the plants, so for now I’ll refrain.
